About the Centre

The London Jiu Jitsu Centre is the trading name of Community Martial Arts Venues, a UK registered charity. Our charitable purpose is to improve physical health, wellbeing and community participation through access to martial arts training.

We operate the Centre exclusively for the benefit of the public by providing inclusive, affordable and accessible opportunities to participate in martial arts and related physical activities.

Community Access & Charitable Provision

The Centre delivers a programme of community classes including Self Defence, Japanese Jiu Jitsu and MMA.

To ensure access is not restricted by cost, these classes are offered at significantly reduced charitable rates, with additional concessions for students, people aged 18-24, blue light personnel and members of the military. Free community provision is also delivered, including regular women’s self-defence classes.

We also provide bursary places and subsidised participation for individuals who would otherwise be unable to access training.

Partnership Delivery Model

To broaden community access and increase participation, the charity works with carefully selected martial arts instructors and organisations who are committed to our cause.

Our amazing partners deliver training programmes in support of the charity’s objectives. While they operate on a commercial basis, their activities at the Centre are conditional upon supporting the charity’s objectives and delivering public benefit by offering:

• free community classes

• bursary (free) training places

• discounted access for young people, Blue Light workers and military personnel

• participation initiatives that widen access to martial arts

 

All activities delivered at the Centre support the charity’s purposes and enhance community access.

The charity retains oversight and control of programming, access arrangements and community provision.

The charity monitors participation and community impact to ensure that the Centre continues to deliver measurable public benefit.
